The building on this site housed the Varsity Restaurant, which was owned by E.L. Case. An employee, Grady Anthony, suffered serious injuries in an explosion and the restaurant eventually closed. The building was also home to Edith's Beauty Shop and housed some operations of the Fort Mill Times for a while.

The Fort Mill Times reported on Feb. 26, 1920 - "The new building in the rear of the post office is to be occupied by the Times is nearing completion."
