This building began its life cycle as the Fort Mill Depository and its walk-in vault is still in use today as a butler's pantry. Now called the Spratt Building, it is owned by the Town of Fort Mill and is available for lease for private events.

As Fort Mill prospered around the expansion of the Fort Mill Manufacturing Co., the Fort Mill Times regularly reported on activities at the mills.  On Dec. 7, 1922 the Times reported, "Both the mills of the Fort Mill Manufacturing Co., were closed Tuesday on account of low water on the Catawba River, curtailing the amount of electric power the Southern Power Company has been able to generate."
